Volunteers need to be relatively fit and capable of lifting and carrying items of furniture from a house to the car. This may include steps. A trolly will be provided to assist.

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of You Matter.

You Matter supports women and children who have experienced family violence by supplying and setting up the contents of their long-term accommodation. We create ‘Havens of hope’ for women and their children. Through a fully equipped and comfortable home, women are empowered to re-establish stability, independence and connect to their community. We require volunteers to collect furniture and household items from donors in a team of two and deliver to our central Abbotsford warehouse.

These shifts start in Abbotsford with collection of the van, a set run is provided of items to collect from either members of the community or businesses and then returned to and unloaded at the Abbotsford warehouse. These shifts are usually between 2-4 hours Monday to Friday.

Tasks and Responsibilities: In this role you will be collecting furniture and household items from donors within Boroondara and surrounding areas. You will need a drivers license and some heavy lifting would be involved. This is a flexible role and you will have to ability to sign up for shifts that suit you.
