BASSCARE is seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to join our friendly Community Centre team. In this rewarding role, you will help prepare and serve meals and afternoon tea for older adults attending our centre, creating a warm and welcoming environment where people can connect, enjoy nutritious food, and participate in meaningful activities.
About the Role As a Volunteer Community Centre Kitchen Assistant, you will support staff in the smooth operation of meal and refreshment services for community members from Camberwell, Glen Iris, Ashburton, and Ashwood.
Key Duties
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and afternoon tea
- Ensure the safe use of kitchen utensils and appliances
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment
- Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
- Contribute to a welcoming and enjoyable experience for attendees
What We're Looking For
- Friendly and approachable manner
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Reliable and committed attitude
- Interest in supporting older members of the community
- Previous kitchen experience is welcome but not essential
