The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of BASSCARE.
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of people living with dementia by supporting social outings and in‑house activities.
Role Overview
Starting at the Maranoa Club in Canterbury, volunteers will support staff in welcoming clients to the day program, engaging them in conversation, and helping create a warm and inclusive environment. Volunteers will also assist staff by escorting clients on and off a 12‑seater bus and helping to ensure each outing is enjoyable, safe and supportive for everyone.
Our adult dementia support program focuses on socialisation within a home‑style setting. Volunteers are warmly welcomed, supported by experienced staff, and given meaningful opportunities to interact with clients while learning more about dementia.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking volunteers who bring empathy, patience and understanding, and who feel comfortable connecting with people living with dementia. Volunteers should be able to offer calm, compassionate support to clients with varying care needs and demonstrate the ability to reassure and steady clients who may experience anxiety or confusion.
