The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of the Craig Family Centre.

Volunteer Opportunity: Mandarin-Speaking Group Facilitator Location: Craig Family Centre, Ashburton Time Commitment: Weekly or fortnightly (day/time flexible based on your availability)

About the Role: We’re seeking a warm, friendly, and community-minded volunteer to help us establish and lead a Mandarin-speaking social group for adults.

As the facilitator, you’ll guide gentle weekly gatherings that may include:

  • Friendly conversations in Mandarin and English
  • Simple games and cultural activities
  • Tea, coffee, and shared social time
  • Optional group walks or public outings (e.g. library, community events, local services)

Skills & Experience (desirable but not required):

  • Fluency in Mandarin (conversational level minimum)
  • Basic English communication
  • Experience working with community groups
  • First Aid Certificate (preferred)
  • Cultural sensitivity and inclusive communication skills

About the Craig Family Centre:

The Craig Family Centre is a vibrant not-for-profit community organisation in Ashburton. We run a wide variety of inclusive programs for all ages, including playgroups, education programs, social support activities, and wellbeing initiatives. Our goal is to help everyone feel connected, supported, and welcomed.
