Volunteer Opportunity: Mandarin-Speaking Group Facilitator Location: Craig Family Centre, Ashburton Time Commitment: Weekly or fortnightly (day/time flexible based on your availability)
About the Role: We’re seeking a warm, friendly, and community-minded volunteer to help us establish and lead a Mandarin-speaking social group for adults.
As the facilitator, you’ll guide gentle weekly gatherings that may include:
- Friendly conversations in Mandarin and English
- Simple games and cultural activities
- Tea, coffee, and shared social time
- Optional group walks or public outings (e.g. library, community events, local services)
Skills & Experience (desirable but not required):
- Fluency in Mandarin (conversational level minimum)
- Basic English communication
- Experience working with community groups
- First Aid Certificate (preferred)
- Cultural sensitivity and inclusive communication skills
About the Craig Family Centre:
The Craig Family Centre is a vibrant not-for-profit community organisation in Ashburton. We run a wide variety of inclusive programs for all ages, including playgroups, education programs, social support activities, and wellbeing initiatives. Our goal is to help everyone feel connected, supported, and welcomed.
