The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Rotary Club of Balwyn.
Assisting households in the City of Boroondara to transform nature strips into beautiful, water-wise and biodiverse green spaces, this project supports healthier streets, stronger communities and thriving local ecosystems. Delivered by Balwyn Rotary, the program works with residents to replace grass nature strips with native plants that attract pollinators, improve soil health, reduce urban heat and enhance neighbourhood amenity.
Key Volunteer Duties
- Assist with soil preparation, planting native grasses, shrubs and groundcovers
- Help with mulching, watering and basic maintenance
- Support site clean-ups and weed removal
- Engage with residents and passers-by about the project
- Follow simple safety and environmental guidelines
Skills & Experience Needed
- No prior experience required—training is provided
- Willingness to work outdoors in a team environment
- Basic physical mobility for light gardening tasks
- Interest in environmental sustainability, biodiversity or community work
- Reliability and a positive attitude
