The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of The Avalon Centre Inc.
The Avalon Centre is a small charity run entirely by volunteers and has a mission statement 'to meet unmet needs'.
We receive donated clothing, bedding, shoes and other items that we distribute weekly to the disadvantaged. We and looking for someone who is flexible and available to assist with picking up and distributing donations. Also to assist in providing transport to visit some of our renters (through our program, 'Avalon Homes for the Homeless.') in Dandenong and to other activities (Meetings, expos, working Bees etc). Dates and times are negotiable to suit your schedule, preferably availability on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday, 9am-5pm and occasionally weekends.
The Centre provides a Toyota Hiace van and pickups will be around Melbourne, Dandenong and occasionally regional areas. The clothing, bedding, furniture etc that you pick up will then be sorted and distributed to the homeless and disadvantaged members of the community.
Skills and Experience:
- Basic understanding of spoken English
- Ability to understand all Work, Health & Safety practices related to the role
- Ability to work in a team
- Must have a level of fitness to be able to manage carrying donations
- Punctual
