Commitment

Regular - more than 6 months

Time required

Attendance at committee meetings held on the 4th Tuesday of the month and go for approximately 1-2.5 hours. Meetings are held in person and online (approximately 75% - 25% split). Additional hours are occasionally required to support specific initiatives or projects (approximately 1-2 hours per month).

Training

Committee members are supported and encouraged to attend training offered through City of Boroondara.

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is promoting this opportunity on behalf of Alamein Neighbourhood & Learning.

The Committee of Management works to ensure that the Centre’s objectives and goals are achieved – supporting and resourcing the Centre team to carry out their responsibilities. The Committee, in collaboration with the Executive Officer is responsible for ensuring the Centre’s services align with organisational objectives and overseeing and providing advice on legal, financial and governance matters.   Key tasks and activities include:

  1. Setting and monitoring the strategic direction of the Centre,
  2. Overseeing financial performance and ensuring responsible use of resources,
  3. Establishing, reviewing and updating Centre policies,
  4. Overseeing compliance with legislation, funding requirements and agreements, and
  5. Supporting team and management performance and wellbeing.

Committee of Management members must be familiar with the organisation’s rules of association, policies, plans and priorities. They should be able and prepared to consider, discuss and advise on key matters pertaining to the Centre and its direction and participate in all areas of the Committee of Management’s responsibilities.
