Commitment

Regular - more than 6 months

Time required

2-3 hours a week on average (variable based on need and communications cycle) Running/chairing fortnightly 30-minute Communications Team meeting (currently Wed 5-5:30pm) Attendance for 90 minute Committee Meeting 7:30-9pm on the first Tuesday of each month.

Training

An online induction to Special Olympics and onboarding with MIE will be provided.

Reimbursement

MIE will reimburse costs of any volunteer completing First Aid & CPR training or coaching accreditation.

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this position on behalf of Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and working with the Communications team members to develop and execute the MIE Communications Plan
  • Leading (chairing) fortnightly Communications Team meetings
  • Managing the Communications Planner, including creation of communication tasks, scheduling and assignment.
  • Coordinating/project managing communication and content tasks, as required to support the overall team.
  • Assisting with the creation and review of content, when required.
  • Completing monthly reporting to the MIE Committee
  • Attending monthly MIE Committee meetings (first Tuesday of each month)

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary level qualification in Marketing & Communications, Business Administration, Project Management or Change Management (or enrolled at TAFE or university and completing your diploma or degree)
  • Excellent written, online and verbal communication skills
  • Experience &/or exposure to digital marketing
  • Strong skills and experience with a range of software, booking and graphic design platforms (including Microsoft - e.g. Office, Teams, Planner etc.; design apps - e.g. Canva; digital marketing platforms such as MailChimp; booking platforms like Humanitix, TryBooking etc.)
  • Highly organised and reliable
  • Able to work independently and show initiative
  • Must have own computer
  • Will work flexible hours from home

Note: Role can be primarily delivered remotely. Would possibly best suit someone in the Eastern/SE suburbs of Melbourne for in-person interaction, visiting events, meetings etc., when needed.
