Manage Eastsider News's website which includes uploading articles and events between the bi-monthly editions of the digital newspaper. Additionally - the website manager would be responsible for uploading the bi-monthly digital newspaper to our website as well as updating bi-monthly - the advertisers displayed on the home page.
Skill needed
The website uses Wordpress, and the mailing list uses Brevo. Some copywriting and basic image editing skills will be very useful. Website maintenance (server issues, backups) will be looked after by others, and support is available.

Eastsider News is a volunteer-run free, independent local media platform for residents of the cities of Boroondara and Whitehorse. Our mission is to focus on showcasing substantial news about and affecting, the diversity of local people and their activities. Our culture is community-based and not-for-profit rather than commercial. We recognise the diversity of interests of people in the local area, with transparent accountability. The small volunteer team are active in the local community. Our funding comes from donations and advertising.
All content is discussed and assessed by an editorial committee before publication. If we have concerns about sources of material or claims made in articles, we will go back to the submitter to seek changes. The team includes some with IT skills to assist.
Our values ensure that we respect copyright and do our utmost to ensure that all creators of images and articles are appropriately and accurately acknowledged and credited. It is essential to us that we do not defame or malign any individual or organisation.
We refuse to publish articles that can be seen to be maligning or discrediting a person or organisation or which make false claims or assertions that cannot be supported by verifiable evidence.
