The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this opportunity on behalf of the Multicultural Association of Russian speaking Women - Ogonyok.
As a volunteer Russian teacher, you will support fellow Ogonyok volunteers who are complete beginners. You will be working with at least one confirmed student, with potential for more to join. Your main duties will include planning and delivering simple, engaging lessons focused on basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and everyday conversation. You may also provide informal practice opportunities and encouragement to help learners build confidence.
We’re looking for someone with a good level of Russian (native or fluent preferred), clear communication skills, and patience when working with beginners. Teaching experience is helpful but not required—enthusiasm, reliability, and a supportive attitude are most important.
Ogonyok is a volunteer-driven organisation focused on community connection and cultural exchange. By helping other volunteers learn Russian, you’ll strengthen their ability to engage more meaningfully with the community and enhance the overall impact of our work.
Volunteering with us is a rewarding opportunity to develop your teaching and leadership skills, gain experience in a cross-cultural environment, and be part of a supportive and passionate team.
