The Boroondara Volunteer resource Centre is advertising this opportunity on behalf of BASSCARE.

The Ashy Op Shop We are also looking for volunteers to support our behind‑the‑scenes operations in the Sorting Donations team.

About the Role Sorting Donations Assistants work in our Sorting Room Hub, an open‑plan indoor space located at the rear of the shop. These roles suit people who enjoy organising, working in a team, and preparing donated items for sale rather than working on the shop floor.

Key Activities

  • Sorting, hanging, and storing donations
  • Preparing clothing, accessories, and homewares to be sale‑ready
  • Assisting with light cleaning tasks related to donations
  • Donations include women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing and shoes, as well as bric‑a‑brac and homewares.

We also welcome volunteers with a particular interest or knowledge in:

  • Books and literature
  • Media (DVDs, CDs, vinyl)
  • Accessories, especially jewellery

What We’re Looking For

  • Good eye for detail
  • Enjoyment in organising and working methodically
  • Willingness to assist with light manual lifting
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team

Training, cleaning supplies, safety equipment, and supervision by a Manager are provided.
