The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is promoting this opportunity on behalf of Inclusion Melbourne Inc.
Make a meaningful difference and strengthen community inclusion by becoming a Leisure Buddy. Leisure Buddies aims to provide people with and intellectual and/or cognitive disability the opportunity to develop and experience friendship in a safe and supported way.
Buddies are carefully matched based on shared interests, personality and location. Through regular catch-ups, Leisure Buddy volunteers help participants achieve increased social participation and inclusion, community access and engagement, experience new activities, develop new skills and build confidence and independence. Activities are based on your shared interests and could include going for lunch or coffee, walks, shopping, movies, casual sports, arts and crafts, and attending events.
We're looking for a friendly, patient and empathic volunteers - no previous experience required! We service the entire Melbourne region. This is a highly flexible volunteer role with training and support provided to ensure a positive experience. We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months for 1-2 hours on a fortnightly basis.
Make a new friend, develop your skills and experience, and provide meaningful social connection to someone who needs it.
