The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Balwyn Evergreen Centre.
Balwyn Evergreen Centre is a NFP offering programs and services to older people in and around Boroondara since 1958. We're a fun and welcoming community focused on ensuring our clients are happy, healthy and socially engaged.
Our transport service is critical for our clients to access our activities and programs. As a driver you get to be part of the action and make a genuine difference in the lives of older people who need your support. We are seeking backup drivers to cover planned and unplanned leave for our current drivers, covering shifts from Monday to Friday, morning and afternoon. If you have time available for any of these timeslots, please get in touch for a chat.
Our Outings Program is designed for people aged 65+ who are up for new experiences. This program offers a fun way to stay socially connected and provide an opportunity to visit places many of our clients can no longer drive to themselves. Shifts include:
- Tuesday Weekly Outing - 9.30am-4.30pm
- Thursday Fortnightly Outing - 9.30am-4.30pm
- Monday Monthly Outing - 9.30am-4.30pm
Our Outings drivers are accompanied by an assistant "jockey" who will navigate and help our less mobile clients with entering and exiting the minibus. Again, if you can provide backup for even one of these days, pleases express your interest and we can discuss how you can help.

Skills and requirements:
- Valid Australian car driving licence. (Note: no special licence required to drive minibus)
- Confidence driving a 12-seater minibus or a car (you will be required to pass a test drive)
- Ability to assist seniors on and off the bus (training provided)
- Must be patient and careful while driving
