Training

Comprehensive induction, role-specific training and ongoing mentoring from our Accredited Exercise Physiologist will equip you with the skills and confidence to support older adults in a safe, engaging and rewarding community setting.

Requirements

  • Covid-19 vaccination
  • Flu vaccination
  • National Police Certificate *

Reimbursement

National Police Check will be paid for by Balwyn Evergreen Centre

Exercise Physiology & Exercise and Sport Science Volunteer

Balwyn Evergreen Centre is a vibrant community hub dedicated to supporting older people to improve their physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

Our exercise programs play an important role in helping older adults maintain their strength, mobility, confidence and independence while providing valuable opportunities for social connection.

We are seeking enthusiastic Exercise Physiology and Exercise & Sport Science students who would like to gain valuable practical experience while working alongside our Exercise Program Coordinator and Accredited Exercise Physiologist.

This volunteer opportunity offers the chance to develop your skills in a supportive community environment while making a genuine difference to the lives of older people.

In this role you will:

  • Assist with setting up and packing down exercise classes
  • Support participants throughout group exercise sessions
  • Encourage and engage clients in a friendly and positive manner
  • Assist with equipment preparation and management
  • Observe participants to help promote a safe exercise environment
  • Work alongside an experienced Accredited Exercise Physiologist

This opportunity would suit students who are:

  • Studying Exercise Physiology or Exercise & Sport Science
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and encouraging
  • Passionate about supporting healthy ageing
  • Keen to develop practical skills and confidence working with older adults
  • Reliable and able to work collaboratively within a team
