The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this opportunity on behalf of Alamein Neighbourhood & Learning.
Alamein Neighbourhood & Learning is a friendly neighbourhood house located in Ashburton, running programs in adult community education in English, technology, employment and job skills, as well as local community activities, men's shed, community garden, a chatty cafe, community referral and events.
We are looking for a volunteer to utilise their creativity and social media skills to support Alamein's social media presence with engaging and fun content.
TASKS/DUTIES INVOLVED:
- Follow Alamein’s social media strategy
- Help maintain a consistent and engaging social media presence
- Create and schedule engaging posts & reels for Instagram & Facebook:
- Source photos and graphics (in-house and external) for posts / reels
- Provide updates and highlights from community programs and events
- Help promote upcoming classes, workshops, and activities
- Ensure posts are clear, friendly, and aligned with the centre’s community values
- Maintain Alamein’s social media calendar
- Monitor comments and flag any important enquiries to staff
- Take photos and videos at Alamein to include in social media posts (optional).
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
- Expertise with Instagram, Facebook and Canva (or similar platform)
- Ability to program social media calendar in Excel.
- Knowledge of scheduling automation systems (not essential but a bonus).
- Excellent written communication and editing skills
- Creativity and an eye for engaging content
- Good smartphone photography skills
- Reliable and able to follow simple guidelines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Interest in community activities and local engagement
