Description

Youth voice provides young people with a chance to contribute their ideas, influence decisions that affect their community and build valuable leadership and civic participation skills.

As a Youth Voice member you'll:

  • Grow your leadership skills
  • Represent young voices in the community
  • Influence projects and events for young people

What's involved:

The group will meet fortnightly on Wednesday afternoons, from February to December 2027 during school term. Throughout the year, you'll get to provide your voice on various projects and initiatives for people in Boroondara.

Past members have had the opportunity to:

  • attend Council meetings and learn how local government works
  • meet and greet members of Council's executive team, Mayor and councillors
  • participate in consultations with Council departments to provide a young person's perspective, including on topics such as heritage planning, strategic communications and volunteering
  • have their say in the Boroondara Community Plan consultations, helping shape the future of Boroondara by sharing what's most important to them and other young people
  • undertake training opportunities facilitated by the Y.

You can apply if you are aged 12-17 (inclusive) and live, work or study in the City of Boroondara.

We're looking for young people who are keen to:

  • share their ideas and perspectives
  • develop leadership skills
  • contribute to their community
  • help shape opportunities for young people in Boroondara.

Volunteers who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, other First Nations, culturally or linguistically diverse, LGBTIQA+ or members of the disability or deaf community are encouraged to apply. All applications are welcomed.

We understand this form may not meet the needs of people with disability or have other diverse, requirements.
