Faversham House is seeking a caring and reliable volunteer to visit a resident with vision impairment and read to them on a regular basis. This rewarding role provides social connection, mental stimulation, and companionship through the simple pleasure of listening to books, newspapers, magazines, or other reading materials.
About the Role As a Reading Companion Volunteer, you will:
- Spend time reading aloud to a resident with vision impairment
- Engage in friendly conversation and companionship
- Help reduce social isolation and promote wellbeing
- Build a meaningful connection through regular visits
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Enjoys reading and sharing stories
- Has clear communication skills
- Is patient, friendly, and respectful
- Enjoys spending time with older people
- Can commit to regular visits
When
- Fortnightly visits
- Mondays, Saturdays, or Sundays
- Visit times are flexible and can be arranged to suit the volunteer and resident
