The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this opportunity on behalf of St Mary's House of Welcome.
Time Commitment: One shift per month (minimum commitment) Shift Times: 8:00am to 12:00pm Saturdays
About the Role:
St Mary's House of Welcome is seeking friendly and reliable volunteers to assist with its Saturday meal service. Working alongside staff and fellow volunteers, you'll help prepare and serve morning tea and brunch to approximately 50 to 80 service users, contributing to a welcoming and inclusive community atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with setting up tables and dining areas
- Prepare toast, tea and coffee
- Fill fruit baskets and prepare service items
- Serve brunch and refreshments to service users
- Collect dishes and assist with cleaning and resetting the dining space
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, Community Support Workers and fellow volunteers throughout the shift
Skills and Experience:
The ideal volunteer will:
- Enjoy working in a busy and community-focused environment
- Have a friendly and welcoming approach
- Feel comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds
- Work well as part of a team
- Remain calm and flexible in busy situations
- Be reliable and committed to attending scheduled shifts
