About the role

Make a difference, one conversation at a time!

As a Volunteer Supporter Engagement Caller at Guide Dogs Victoria, you’ll help us build meaningful relationships with the generous supporters who make our work possible. Through friendly, engaging telephone conversations, you’ll thank donors for their generosity, nurture ongoing relationships and inspire continued support for our life-changing work.

Working closely with our Regular Giving Manager, you’ll play an important role in helping supporters feel valued and connected to the difference they make in the lives of people living with low vision or blindness.

Whether you’re thanking someone for their generosity, helping them update their payment details or inviting them to deepen their support, every conversation is an opportunity to make someone’s day and help change lives.

What you’ll be doing

  • Connecting with supporters: Make warm, friendly calls to nurture relationships, maintain engagement and encourage ongoing support.
  • Sharing gratitude: Make thank-you calls to acknowledge our generous donors and let them know how much their support means.
  • Keeping supporters connected: Assist donors with updating their payment details to ensure their ongoing contributions continue smoothly.
  • Growing generosity: Contact existing donors to invite them to consider increasing their regular gift or ongoing support.
  • Inspiring new commitments: Connect with one-off donors and invite them to become regular supporters of Guide Dogs Victoria.
  • Keeping records up to date: Accurately record call outcomes and relevant information in Salesforce.
  • Supporting the team: Assist with general administrative tasks as required.

What you’ll bring

You don’t need to be a professional fundraiser to make a difference! We’re looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people, communicating with warmth and helping others feel appreciated.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A warm, confident and engaging telephone manner.
  • A mature, professional and empathetic approach to conversations.
  • Confidence speaking with a wide range of people and adapting your communication style to suit different needs.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office. Experience using Salesforce is an advantage.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment.
  • Previous experience in fundraising, customer service, telemarketing, supporter engagement or a relationship-focused role is desirable, but a genuine interest in connecting with people is just as important.
