Volunteer Event Set-Up and Pack-Down
Enjoy being hands-on and helping things come together behind the scenes? As an Event Set-Up and Pack-Down Volunteer, you’ll play an important role in helping Guide Dogs Victoria events run smoothly by preparing event spaces before activities begin and packing everything away afterwards.
Working alongside our Events Manager, staff and fellow volunteers, you’ll help transform spaces into welcoming, well-organised environments for our events. Your practical support will make a real difference, helping ensure everything is ready for guests and safely packed away at the end of the day.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assist with event set-up (bump-in) and pack-down (bump-out), including moving equipment, furniture and event materials.
- Set up and pack away tables, chairs, signage, displays and other event items.
- Help load, unload, move and store event supplies.
- Prepare event spaces according to event plans and instructions.
- Ensure equipment and materials are packed away safely and stored appropriately.
- Help maintain a clean, organised and safe event environment.
- Follow instructions from the Events Manager and report any hazards, damage or other issues.
- Assist with practical, hands-on tasks and manual handling within your capabilities.
What You’ll Bring
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to pitch in where needed.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- A reliable, team-focused attitude and willingness to work collaboratively with staff and fellow volunteers.
- An awareness of safety and the importance of handling equipment carefully.
- The ability to undertake some physical tasks, including moving event equipment, within your personal capabilities.
Previous experience in event set-up, pack-down, warehousing or similar practical roles is welcome but not essential. A positive attitude and willingness to help are what matter most!
Time Commitment
Event support is needed at various times throughout the year. Depending on the event, shifts may be on weekdays, evenings or weekends, with times varying according to set-up and pack-down requirements.
