The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of The Balwyn Evergreen Centre.
The Evergreen Connections Visitor Program matches volunteer visitors with eligible older people who are experiencing loneliness and social isolation across Eastern Melbourne.
It's a wonderful opportunity for us to help vulnerable members of the community and ease the burden of social isolation, which we know can lead to poor health outcomes.
With regular visits, both volunteers and older people can build meaningful connections and make a real difference in each other's lives.
Details:
- Spend time with an older person - visits can be weekly or fortnightly
- Visits can happen either on site at Balwyn Evergreen or in the older person’s home
- Get to know each other, have a chat, share a common interest, go for a coffee/walk
- Build connections and sense of belonging in your community
- Know you're making a real difference to someone's life and your own
You don’t need any special skills, just a willingness to spend time with someone. Balwyn Evergreen provides full and ongoing support to make sure you and the older person are the right fit.
