Help local seniors enjoy social outings, stay connected, and try new activities. Lunch and activity entry costs are covered, and you'll be part of a warm, supportive team making a real difference. Volunteer shifts: Wednesdays or Fridays, 9:30am–4:00pm.
Adult Literacy Tutor - Phonics

We are seeking Adult Literacy Tutors with a phonics background to volunteer weekly 1:1 or with small groups of English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners. They will support student's developing literacy by helping the students to hear, identify and manipulate the 44 phonemes of English.

Scout Leaders help organise and run activities for youth members participating in Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. We need skills and experience in a variety of activities. These include traditional outdoor activities, but modern scouting also encourages input from a wide range of pursuits. We are looking for Leaders in all section age ranges, for weekly 2 hour meetings. Can be part time (eg every 2 or 3 weeks) Ages: Cubs: 8-11, Scouts: 11-14 and Venturers: 14-18

The support provided by volunteers in this position assists Alamein to provide a friendly welcome to all visitors and attendees at the centre. The role is to greet visitors entering the centre, direct them to the correct room or staff member, make a tea or coffee for them and ensure the common area is a welcoming place.
