We are seeking a commitment of more than 12 months to allow for a trusting relationship to form. Hours are not formalised and would be on a need to need basis, something to be established by us, yourself and renter.

The role of a Supporter is more like being a friend. We are not looking for Counsellors, Support workers, case managers, just simply someone to support our renters and develop a trusting relationship.

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of the Avalon Centre.

Each house will have a supporter whose role involves developing a trusting relationship with the renters involved and offering support where needed. We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and communicative individual to work closely with these new renters to provide support in varying capacities. This may include help with budgeting, cooking, job searching, shopping, and much more. The role of our Home supporter will involve developing a trusting relationship with the tenants involved and offering support where needed.

This role would suit someone who has experience with people who are experiencing challenges in their life, or has 'lived' experience. Also, for someone who has a desire to support and make a difference to someone who is trying to get back on their feet and regain control of their lives. Ideally you would have social work or lived experience.
