The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Holstep - Himilo Community Connect.

Himilo Community Connect aims to increase participation, building capacity, create valuable connections and open opportunities for success in education, employment, health and social cohesion from within the Somali Australian community.

Homework Club supports the community’s needs and assists to implement and build positive learning habits and behaviours that students will be able to use in school and out of school. This club is open to all students living in the Banyule area.

In 2025, Homework club will be running again and this year we are hopefully to be able to run the session on Mondays and Wednesdays between 4 - 5.30pm and is open to Primary and Secondary aged students. This service is free to students, and they are able to attend on a week-by-week basis.

The Himilo Homework Club program aims to improve the confidence, motivation and outcomes for school aged students.

Tutors are required to provide one and a half (minimum) of tutoring support per week over a 20-week program. Tutors act as an academic coach and positive role model to primary and secondary school aged students. They work with young people to develop their skills and understanding in Math, English, Science and Humanities.
