About the Role:
Do you have a passion for gardening and sustainability? Are you looking for a meaningful way to share your skills and connect with community? The Craig Family Centre is looking for a volunteer to run a series of engaging, hands-on community gardening workshops this spring. Whether you’re a hobby gardener, a permaculture enthusiast, or simply love growing your own food, we’d love for you to lead a 4-week program to inspire others. You decide the topics—propagation, composting, beeswax wrap making, balcony gardening, building a herbal tea garden, or anything else you love. This is your chance to:
- Share your gardening or sustainability knowledge with others
- Inspire confidence and curiosity in growing food or creating eco-friendly habits
- Build confidence facilitating workshops in a supportive setting
- Contribute to community wellbeing and connection
Workshops can be designed for adults, children, or all-ages. We provide all the behind-the-scenes support so you can focus on doing what you love.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead a practical, engaging weekly session (or series)
- Help set up and use materials (staff support provided)
- Guide a small group of participants in a warm, inclusive manner
- Collaborate with staff for smooth program delivery
- If working with children: hold a valid Working With Children Check
Skills & Experience (desirable but not essential):
- A love of gardening, sustainability or DIY eco-living
- Clear communication and willingness to guide others
- Experience in group facilitation or education (optional)
- Creativity and initiative in designing activities
- Working With Children Check (if facilitating children’s sessions)
