Garden Group Facilitator

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Kew Neighbourhood Learning Centre.
We are seeking an enthusiastic green thumb to volunteer with our Gardening Group. This role involves maintaining our community garden spaces while supporting participants in engaging with nature in an accessible and welcoming environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with general gardening tasks such as weeding, pruning, planting, and watering.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the garden area.
- Support participants as they engage in gardening activities under the guidance of a lead volunteer.
- Help cultivate and care for produce grown in the Centre’s garden beds
- Ensure the gardening space remains accessible and inclusive for all participants, including those with disabilities.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to provide a safe gardening environment.
Skills and Attributes:
- A passion for gardening and sustainability.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and garden maintenance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with participants of all abilities.
- Friendly, patient, and willing to provide encouragement and support.
- No formal gardening experience is required, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are essential!
The garden features accessibility-friendly raised beds and a step-less entrance to ensure inclusion for all participants. Volunteers may engage with individuals receiving support through HACC PYP and NDIS programs.
Requirements:
- Working With Children check mandatory.
- Current police check mandatory.
- Fully vaccinated
