The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this opportunity on behalf of The Hawthorn Historical Society.
The Hawthorn Historical Society was formed in 1974. Our members are committed to exploring, preserving, and sharing the community’s history and heritage. Our Historical Society is affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria. We hold frequent events, including talks, walking tours and displays. We also conduct research, curate our collections and archives, help to answer queries from the public and publish historical publications and a quarterly newsletter. We are seeking passionate volunteers to help us progress our mission and work. If you are interested in Hawthorn’s history and heritage, this is your opportunity.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Perform any duty or function required under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012 (Cth): to be performed by the Secretary of an incorporated association. (Example: under the Act, the Secretary of an incorporated association is responsible for lodging documents of the association with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission);
- Keep minutes of the resolutions and proceedings of each annual general meeting and distribute to the members;
- File minutes and a record of attendees of each committee meeting in books provided for that purpose;
- Be responsible for emailing the agenda and any reports for committee meetings;
- Collect mail from mailbox;
- Distribute the minutes in a timely fashion;
- Prepare reports for the annual general meeting;
- Keep and maintain all correspondence files.
- Oversee the email account in conjunction with the President and one other delegated committee member.
